Living out of a suitcase and spending countless hours in airports are difficult parts of life when careers require travel. However, missing your teen’s first big game of the season or your 5 year old’s ballet recital can be just plain brutal. Finding a balance between your professional and family life is a dilemma most everyone faces today.
Budget Stretcher: Your hotel room may be paid for, at least for the nights that overlap with the business trip and a corporate rate may even apply. Plus, a business trip that is extended with a Saturday night stay may actually result in a decrease in airfare expense for your employer.
New Adventures: You and your family will get the opportunity to explore uncharted territory and fascinating places you might otherwise never visit.
One-on-One Time: Kids get a glimpse of mom or dad’s work life and feel included in that otherwise remote part of your life. You can gain back some of those lost hours when business travel leaves you separated from your loved ones. Experience some true down time with your family without the pressure of catching up on household chores or computer time, which is all too tempting to do at home.
