Family Fun in Santa Clara and Silicon Valley
California’s Great America
A staple in the Santa Clara tourism scene, California’s Great American has a long history of creating childhood memories. The park includes thrill rides as well as family-friendly ones along with an area dedicated solely to the Peanuts gang.
Escape the rush of the city without leaving the city! Central Park is 52 acres of space to stretch your legs and get in a game of tennis or basketball. Picnic near the lake or on the bowling green before visiting Central Park Library and the Avenue of Flags.
Deer Hollow Farm at Rancho San Antonio
A 160-year-old-farm, Deer Hollow Farm is just a trail walk away from Rancho San Antonio County Park. With nearly 126,000 annual visitors including thousands of students, the farm stays busy teaching people about life on a homestead. On your visit, make sure to visit the friendly farm animals, gardens and orchards.
The only California amusement park with a horticultural theme, Gilroy Gardens is a sight to behold. Offering 21 rides, 27 attractions, 6 majestic gardens and the world famous Circus Trees, it’s Gilroy Gardens’ goal to “disguise learning with fun.” Visit with the family and spend the day in the best of both worlds.
Big Basin Redwoods State Park
Established in 1902, Big Basin Redwoods is California’s oldest state park. Home to some the largest and oldest Redwood forests in the world, the park also includes well-known trails like Skyline to the Sea Trail and impressive waterfalls like Berry Creek Falls. From a day visit to a weekend camping excursion, the park beckons anyone who loves fresh air and nature’s beauty.
Skyline to the Sea Trail
Running 29.5 miles, the trail stretches the ridge of the Santa Cruz Mountains and passes through both Castle Rock State Park and Big Basin Redwoods State Park. The trail usually takes two days to complete and ends with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.
Berry Creek Falls Loop at Big Basin Redwoods State Park
Take a day hike to Berry Creek Falls and feast your eyes on a spectacular series of four waterfalls. Averaging a round trip of 4-6 hours, make sure to pack food for your picnic at the falls and a camera to capture the fantastic overview of the park that the trail provides.
Living up to the state’s esteemed reputation for making and sharing wine, there’s a multitude of vineyards close to the Biltmore Hotel and Suites.
